The Leader
This is how today’s crucial battle for the Primera League will look like. It could be one last chance for Barcelona and Sevilla to top Real before the end of the season with only two matches left top play. Madrid faces 5th place Real Zaragoza in an away game and this could be the last chance for the followers to overtake the Spanish leaders.
Real Zaragoza is fighting for an Uefa Cup position and should be motivated enough to play a great game against Real. On the other side, the leaders have a motivated squad lead by David Beckham who just proved himself in a great shape. Becks played well both with Brazil, Estonia and in the last league games for Real. The whole club knows that this is the last major obstacle in front of another Primera League title.
Barca and Sevilla are chasing
Main title contenders Barcelona are playing tonight against town rivals Espanyol at the Nou Camp. The former 2006 Champions League winners are tied at the top with Real, but Real edges in front having a better head to head history. It won’t be an easy task especially with Brazilian superstar Ronaldiho being suspended for the game. Barca has players like Messi that can substitute Ronaldinho and it should win tonight if they want to keep hopes awake for the title.
On the other hand Sevilla will travel to Mallorca for today’s league game and they will start the game knowing that a win is the only option in order to keep slim chances for the Primera League crown. Sevilla trails Real by two points with two games left to play.
Ronaldinho’s ban stays put
After appealing twice Barcelona couldn’t obtain the permission to use Ronaldinho in tonight’s clash against Espanyol. The Brazilian was red-carded in the last league game. But the Spanish Sports Disciplinary Committee (CEDD) has denied Barca’s appeal. The Catalans appealed first to the Spanish Football Association but this attempt was also unsuccessful. Frank Rijkard also called Ronnie to the squad for tonight’s match but he will have to manage without his Brazilian superstar.
