Wolverhampton v Aston Villa Live

by Rocwood on 23 October, 2009

This match is a repeat of the first league game that these two clubs ever played. At that match, only 2,500 supporters attended over 121 years ago. Times have changed but this fixture only grows in excitement.

Villa have been unbeaten by their close neighbours and rivals in almost twenty years, they have also made an excellent start to this season so are buoyed by their early success.

Wolves are showing signs of improvement, being only a few short seconds from victory at Everton last week. The Wolves players also play better against the bigger teams. This was demonstrated when they narrowly lost to Man City earlier in the season.

Aston Villa v Chelsea Live

by Rocwood on 16 October, 2009

aston villa v chelseaAston Villa host Chelsea today with Luke Young in the squad for the first time this season, although he will likely be on the bench.

Chelsea have Petr Cech back from suspension after his recent red card.

Yury Zhirkov injured fellow chelsea player Michael Ballack as Germany played Russia midweek, so the German midfielder sits out this game to get treatment on his ankle.

It is unknown if Martin O’Neill intends to use the out of favour striker Emile Heskey. A January exit for the England squad player is looking increasingly likely.
