This is a game very much from the ‘something old/something new’ part of English football, as one of the latest entrants to the circus we call Premiership welcomes one of the founding members of the old league system, but two better managers you’ll be hard-press to find. Michael Laudrup hasn’t quite earned the level of respect David Moyes gets yet, but it can’t be long given the way his side play.
Everton also produce some of the most exciting youth players in the country and have signed some genuinely decent players this summer, so I’m really looking forward to this contest.
