The only match that ended goalless in the first leg of this round was also one of the bumpiest one, with Sporting finishing the game with 9 players, but still looking more dangerous than Atletico.
The Madrid side has been doing terribly in La Liga, but have had a sizable improvement when Tiago, the Portuguese midfielder that’s had an excellent playing career at Benfica, Lyon, Chelsea and Juventus. But he’s cup-tied for this match, and the team will miss him dearly, as they have in the first leg.
Sporting have been winning match after match, keeping clean sheets and scoring upwards of 3 goals in their last 4 matches, excluding the first match at Madrid. Judging both team’s form and individual strengths, I cannot separate these two sides before the starting whistle.
