Portugal 2 – 3 Germany Highlights
22′ 0 – 1 Bastian Schweinsteiger opens the score with a sliding shot.
Germany are the first side that qualify for the EURO 2008 semi-finals. In the first quarter-final that ended a few minutes ago Hans-Dieter Flick‘s side won 3-2 against the big favorites Portugal.
It was a superb match with the German side managing to upset a naive Portuguese squad. A counter-attack and a set piece goal where enough to bring Germany 2-0 in the lead by the 26th minute of the match.
Portugal was again the nicer team of the encounter. Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side managed to pull one back in the 40th minute after a series of sustained attacks. The second half started with another series of Portuguese attacks and huge misses. It was Germany to score again in the 61st minute. A goal scored with a header from another set piece cross.
Portugal plunged desperate into a last round of attacks and Helder Postiga managed to bring back the hopes in the 87th minute. It proved to be to late and Germany get the semi-final tickets.
