Bordeaux got the best of the game in a match tainted by scenes of violence between fans.
A goal by Michael Ciani was enough for Bordeaux to beat Olympiakos away from home. Ciani headed it past the keeper after a great cross by Gourcouff in the final moments of the first half.
Olympiakos probably deserved to get something out of this match, since they pressured their opponent well and created a few good goalscoring opportunities. Bordeaux, however, always looked on top of things and never looked like losing control of the match.
Bordeaux take a clean sheet and an away goal to the second leg match, putting the current French League leaders in a good position to advance in the competition.
