Fiorentina got the win, but lost on aggregate. It was an excellent, fast-paced game of football that delighted fans of the sport everywhere.
Fiorentina started the game on a high note, and Vargas’ and Jovetic’s first-half goals turned the aggregate score in their favor. It looked like a relatively easy night for Fiorentina, and the Viola fans were chanting happily at half time.
But the second half brought a different Bayern Munich. The German pressure in the first half saw Mark van Bommel score a good goal, and make it all even on aggregate. But Jovetic would score again and put the Florence side back in the lead. It was a hectic final 10 minutes of the match, and Arjen Robben put the full stop on the match with a 40 yard shot.
Bayern move on in the competition, and are still serious candidates to reaching this year’s final.
