Celtic fans torched the £65,000 BMW of Rangers star Damarcus Beasley after they lost their final competitive game of the season, handing the league title to defending champions, Rangers. The image above was taken moments after the car was petrol bombed.
Detective Sergeant Sandy Johnston said he wanted to talk to anyone who was in the area of Beasley’s street, Queen’s Gardens, at around 11pm on Monday.
He added:
“In particular, I would like to trace the occupants of a white hatchback car seen in the area, as they may have information that will assist this investigation. At this point I am not willing to point the finger at Celtic fans, although we do want to trace 2 men with no teeth, wearing luminous bumble bee sports tops”
Speculation is that this was in retaliation to a comment posted on Damarcus’ Twitter account:
The joke read:
“What do you say to a Celtic fan with a beautiful woman on his arm? Nice tattoo mate.”
