Man Utd v Liverpool Live

by Joao on 19 March, 2010

A match both teams cannot lose. United must keep their wits and not lose points in this campaign while Chelsea still have a game in hand and can very well pass them in the table. Liverpool are still seeking a 4th place finish, and manager Benitez has come under heavy fire recently for his squad´s poor performance.

But Liverpool come from a European match that was greatly successful, beating Lille 3-0 and, almost has importantly, with 2 goals from Torres, who looks like he´s back on friendlly terms with scoring. Skrtel is still out for the Merseyside Reds, but Aurelio is in with a chance of returning to the team. But this is a match that can, and most certainly will, be won in midfield, and Liverpool´s is injury free, although the question will remain whether they´re fully recovered from the match last Thursday.

United´s injury list has grown to a troublesome length once more, with Ritchie De Laet, Wes Brown, Rafael da Silva, Michael Owen, Anderson, John O’Shea and Owen Hargreaves all out. Not even the possible return of Ryan Giggs, who is set as “doubtful”, can rest Sir Alex ahead of this important clash.

Fulham v Man City Live

by Joao on 19 March, 2010

Fulham come into this match on cloud 9, having beat Juventus in an amaying game at home. But at Craven Cottage not only are the spirits high, home form has been impressive as well. Fulham have only conceded 9 goals at home this season, a record only beaten by Man United. John Pantsil and Andrew Johnson won´t be available for Fulham in a match where the home side has every chance of an upset.

Manchester City will be looking to keep their eyes on the race for 4th place, and getting all 3 points at Craven Cottage is a must if they are to succeed. Adebayor and Bridge are missing, the first due to suspension and the latter because of an injury, but Petrov might be making his way back to the squad.

Celtic try to keep their title hopes alive, knowing well that they’ll need help from above to do it. Sunderland v Birmingham Live

March 17, 2010

Sunderland come into this match still in need of points, despite their excellent start to the season. On the other hand, we have Birmingham, who never greatly impressed by their quality of football but have been very regular and deserving of their current standing and of being in the fight for 5th place.
Sunderland’s greatest weapon [...]

Stoke v Tottenham Live

March 17, 2010

Stoke host Tottenham, who are defending their 4th place in the League, in what should be a fiery match.
Stoke have the dubious record of being the team that dropped the most points from winning positions, but they have some better statistics on their side, namely their high goal rate from set pieces. And set pieces [...]

Portsmouth v Hull Live

March 17, 2010

A match between two teams that desperately need points, one maybe more desperate than others.
Portsmouth have been convincingly beaten by Liverpool 4-1 last match, and their league career can give them no hopes of recovery from the bottom place. On top of that, it has recently been confirmed that they’ll lose an extra 9 points [...]
