Villa pull out an important win to keep the coveted 4th place well within their sights, with James Milner the star of this match.
An own goal by James McCarthy gave Villa the lead, promptly taken back by a free kick curled in by Caldwell.
But Villa kept up their spirits and Wigan never seemed likely to score again. In the second half, a half-cleared ball fell into the shooting range of James Milner, who put it past a sea of bodies to score the winner.

CSKA progress with a 3-2 win on aggregate, leaving a favorite Sevilla side behind.
The game was tight, with even chances for both teams in the first half. Keisuke Honda, the newly signed playmaker, was the man to watch in the Russian side, as he looked increasingly dangerous as the match progressed. And he would sign the assist for CSKA’s first goal, shot by Tomas Necid. But shortly after Sevilla equalized with a cunning goal by Diego Perotti.
The second half saw a much more organized CSKA preventing Sevilla from getting anything more out of the game. And Honda would score the final goal, getting CSKA through to the next round of the Champions League.
