Barca score 5 in Basel

by Rocwood on October 22, 2008

Basel vs Barcelona
Basel - Barcelona
Barcelona have the already the chance to make things clear in the Group C. The Catalans have maximum points and play in Switzerland against Basel, a team that scored only once and did not manage to win a point yet. Basel would need a miracle to remain in the Champions League after such a poor start, but a positive result against Barca is always very valuable.

Basel – Barcelona on the internet will be available at the FCFB starting with 20.45 GMT+1. Watch the live video broadcast from the St. Jakob Park as we expect some spectacular football from Pep Guardiola’s Barca. The video highlights will be updated after the match. [click to continue…]

Arsenal sink Aragones Fenerbahce

by Rocwood on October 21, 2008

Fenerbahce vs Arsenal
Fenerbahce - Arsenal
Fenerbahce had a poor start to this Champions League edition. The team coached now by Luis Aragones seems quite far away from last years performance when they managed to reach the stage of the last 16. Arsenal travels today to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium and Fener might easily remain with a single point after this 3rd match-day in the Group G.

The Gunners top the group with 4 points and have a good confidence after demolishing FC Porto in the previous round.

Fenerbahce – Arsenal online will start tonight at 7.45pm GMT time. Football lovers are invited here at the FCFB to watch this encounter live on the internet for free. The live streams will be updated just before the kick off and highlights will be provided later in the night. [click to continue…]

Xavi Hernandez Player of the EURO 2008
Xavi Hernandez – Player of the EURO 2008
Spain’s playmaker, Xavi Hernandez, has been voted as the player of the EURO 2008 tournament, by a series of UEFA technical experts. Barcelona’s inner midfielder was responsible with Spain’s attacking rhythm. He delighted everyone with the unique attacking paths and with the clever passes the he sent for his fellow teammates.

Xavi also impressed with his constant high level of play during the entire tournament. He managed to keep his high standard starting with the group stage matches and ending with the final. There where other players that could have been a good choice for this award but all of them failed to provide a great shape in all matches. An example would be the Russian’s Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko, who played superbly with Sweden and Holland, but failed to show the same shape against Greece and Spain. [click to continue…]
