Bayern Munich 0-2 Inter Milan Highlights

by Joao

Europe is at Inter Milan’s feet and, quite naturally, at the feet of Jose Mourinho once again. It was a conclusive 2-0 win over German giants Bayern Munich, with two excellent goals by Diego Milito.

The Santiago Bernabeu erupted in black-and-blue joy as the Italians won their third Champions League trophy, 45 years after the last one. Inter can now rest on the glory of having won the Italian Cup, the Italian League and the Champions League all in the same year, a truly remarkable feat.

But Inter’s win isn’t without its criticism, and it comes directly from Van Gaal, Bayern’s manager, who claimed that Inter won thanks to their defensive football and that “attacking is harder than defending”.

But for those of us who watched the game, Inter’s victory comes to no surprise. The Germans depended greatly on Robben’s inspiration, and if in the first half it looked like the Dutch winger was going to be able to bend the Italian defense in half – Chivu was having a very hard time keeping up with him – he soon ran out of gas and Inter took full control of the match.

For posterity, here’s the highlight video:
