World Cup 2010: Argentina 3-1 Mexico

The match

The scoreline makes it look like Argentina cruised for another victory, but it wasn’t quite the case. In fact, until the first Argentinian goal(which was offside), Mexico had the upper hand. But Argentina pulled through and keep showing quality.

The teams

Mexico is another one of those teams that is overrated in their home media, and they easily crumble under pressure. The second Argentinian goal was the best example of this. They have some young names coming up, and hopefully we’ll see more from them in times to come.

Argentina keep powering through this World Cup, and Maradona is proving to be a better manager than anyone gave them credit for. I for one mentioned he was probably one of the worst managers in the tournament(Domenech took #1 easily), but I must bite my tongue. Argentina plays furiously and you can tell the players want to perform for him, and he’s made some excellent tactical decisions. It’s good to see one of the most exciting players I’ve had the change to watch become an admirable manager. Argentina will now face stiff opposition, Germany. We’ll see how they do against a very organized opponent.
