An excellent win for Tottenham against a Blackburn team that clearly played for the draw.
The entire first half was a game of cat and mouse, with Blackburn holding tight at the back and Spurs trying their best to crack open their defensive line. In first half stoppage time, a corner for Tottenham saw Jermain Defoe score the opener and Spurs’ fans could breathe more easily at half time.
The second half saw Blackburn trying to open up a bit more, but it was still Tottenham’s game. But there was enough space at the back for Tottenham to get some counter-attacks in and Pavlyuchenko took advantage of one of these opportunities to score his first of the match. Christopher Samba got a goal back for Blackburn from a set-piece, but Pavlyuchenko was on fire and got Spurs’ advantage back to two goals.
Tottenham stick to their guns to retain 4th place, and are looking good at the moment.
