The Brazilian national team beat their Irish counterpart in a very interesting match.
The tone for the match was set early in the first half, with Brazil seeking to play an organized, yet fast-paced football while Ireland were relying on defensive pressure, a tight defense and counter-strikes.
The Irish held their ground well throughout the whole of the match, and the likes of Adriano and Gilberto Silva were at times put to shame by the men in green. It was only with an own goal that Brazil got ahead in the first half – which should have been disregarded due to an offside by Robinho.
The second half saw the usual dance of substitutions up front, and Brazil looked far more dangerous when “The Emperor” Adriano left the pitch and a much keener Grafite took it to the Irish. Brazil dominated the second half and Robinho got a goal right before he was substituted, confirming his increase in form since he left Manchester.
