John Steven Taylor, father and Blackburn fan of 30 years, was killed during his team’s away match against Stoke City. He was hit in the head by a metal bin thrown by another Blackburn fan at half-time, which caused him to suffer a heart attack.
Taylor was rushed to the hospital, where he would be pronounced dead at at 1.55am the following day.
A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said a man had been arrested following investigation of the incident, and is now out on bail. The Police are now examining footage taken at the stadium and interviewing witnesses.
The family of the deceased have set up a Facebook page, which has been flooded with supporting messages.
“Words can’t describe how we feel right now, John was a great dad, an awesome Bruv, and a great Friend to many. Rest In Peace Bruv, You’ll never be forgotten.”
