Man City Attempt to Sign Eto’o

by Rocwood on 1 July, 2009

samuel-etooAlthough Barcelona have offered Samuel Eto’o a new contract, Mark Hughes is still confident of landing the Cameroon striker.

Hughes commented:

“We have to sit back and see what develops. Patience is a word that has been mentioned – we may need some.”

Eto’o has been at the Nou Camp for 5 years and it was widely assumed he was going to leave at the end of the season.  Barcelona had already gone on record as saying he does not feature in their future plans. He can leave for free at the end of next season, so it would certainly seem a strange move for Barcelona to now be considering holding onto him, rather than taking £20m+ now.

Barcalona have offered him a new contract which pretty much voids the bottom half of this article but i can see him leaving Barcalona this year but if it’s to Manchester City is another story.

And is it just me or are Manchester City trying to copy the “old” Real Madrid by just buying a shed load of new strikers who will have to end out playing out of position as they can’t all play upfront at the same time.

I agree with Nikk they are looking like they are going to be overloaded with strikers, I also heard he had been offered a contract so think you need an update on this one.
