Tony Adams to Pompey, Redknapp to Spurs

Ex Arsenal star Tony Adams has taken over as the manager of Portsmouth. Previously, it had been thought Avram Grant was the favourite to take over from Harry Redknapp, but Adams was in the dugout along with Joe Jordan to see his new team drop two points in a 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Adams will be in sole charge against Liverpool tommorow – a daunting task for a first game given the Reds are top of the league having just beaten Chelsea in London.

When asked what he thought of the new management team, Redknapp said:

“Joe is very experienced, Tony is up and coming in the managerial game and works very hard. I don’t think either of them would do any harm, for sure.”

It now remains to be seen how much money Adams will have to spend – they have sold Pedro Mendes to Glasgow Rangers and Sulley Muntari left for a club record, but a fair chunk of this was used to bring in Peter Crouch.

Redknapp has already got himself a new job – taking over the sacked Jaunde Ramos at Tottenham. As of yet there is no news of where Ramos is going next – maybe he’ll be working from home after all the abuse he has taken in recent weeks!
