The 27-year-old Bulgarian striker is closer than ever to arrive at the Old Trafford after negotiations between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have intensified. Berbatov has played for the Spurs in the last two seasons but the last few months have brought rumours about his departure from the White Hart Lane.

Tottenham have asked for a transfer price of 30 million pounds. Manchester United initially offered 20 million pounds and have risen the bid to 25. Latest reports state that the Spurs might agree to sell Berbatov for 28 million pounds and that the Red Devils are prepared to spend this amount.

Dimitar Berbatov has recorded 69 appearances and 27 goals for the Spurs. He arrived to the Premiership in 2006 from German Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen. He played 154 for the German side and scored 69 goals.
