Spain’s playmaker, Xavi Hernandez, has been voted as the player of the EURO 2008 tournament, by a series of UEFA technical experts. Barcelona’s inner midfielder was responsible with Spain’s attacking rhythm. He delighted everyone with the unique attacking paths and with the clever passes the he sent for his fellow teammates.

Xavi also impressed with his constant high level of play during the entire tournament. He managed to keep his high standard starting with the group stage matches and ending with the final. There where other players that could have been a good choice for this award but all of them failed to provide a great shape in all matches. An example would be the Russian’s Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko, who played superbly with Sweden and Holland, but failed to show the same shape against Greece and Spain.
