Guus Hidink receives Russian Citizenship
After Russia’s ongoing success at the EURO 2008, Guus Hidink has received an offer from the Russian President, Dmitri Medvedev, to get the Russian citizenship. The Russian leaders are afraid that Hidink might not be welcomed in Holland anymore after Russia defeated Netherlands in the EURO 2008 quarter-finals. Hidink’s boys managed a 3-1 win during the extra-time and qualified for the semi-finals, while the Dutch side headed back home.
Guus Hidink is not at his first performance or award. The Dutch coach has qualified South Korea for the World Cup 2002 semi-finals. The Koreans offered him free food for the rest of his life and unlimited airline flights.
Wonder what the Russian will add if the Russian national team will reach the EURO 2008 Final or even win the trophy!!!
