Real Madrid simply destroyed Valladolid with 7-0 in a La Liga game that ended an hour ago. It was a goal festival at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid is marching towards a new Primera Division title with style. The difference towards the second placed Barcelona has grown to 8 points now after Barca’s draw last night.
Julio Baptista opened the score in the 9th minute after a speedy Real Madrid counter-attack. Raul doubled Real’s lead after just half and hour of play. The winner was decided 2 minutes later as Arjen Robben added his name on the scoreboard. Valladolid showed no chance of coming back. Raul added his name on the scoreboard in the 39th minute but this was not the halftime score because Guti made it 5 – 0 for the home side one minute before the break.
The second half was calmer with only 2 more goals for Bernd Schuster’s boys. Guti scored his second goal of the night, with a superb curled shot from outside of the box that hit the left post before crossing the goal-line. Arjen Robben was responsible with the assist. Drenthe close the score board for a humiliating 7-0 in the 80th minute.
An interesting fact is that Real Madrid managed to score in this game 7 times from 14 attempts. More from 10 shots that hit Valladolid’s goal, 7 where goals. Impressive isn’t it. Guess what the ball possession statistics says? Well, surprise, both teams had 50% possession of the ball.
