Ghana and Nigeria start the quarter-final stage

GhanaNigeria is the first shock of the quarter finals for the 2008 edition of the African Nations Cup. The game will be played at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra, starting with 18:30 CET. Watch the match live online using the live streams collected in this article. FCFootballBlog also invites you to watch the highlights and the report after the game. I will upload the most important videos from Accra in the bottom part of this article.
Ghana, the host nation, are the winners of the Group A while Nigeria are the runners-up from the Group B. The home side is one of the main favorites of the tournament. If I would suggest a betting tip for this event, I would say that Claude Le Roy’s boys will qualify for the semi-finals. From my point of view, Nigeria got a lucky qualification out of the group phase. Their game did not impress me to much. Ghana are also not playing at their top level yet, but they surly proved a growing trend over the group phase.
This does not mean that Muntari and his team-mates will have an easy battle with the Super Eagles from Nigeria. May the best team win! See you soon! ;)

Update!

0-1 Aiyegbeni Yakubu opens the score for Nigeria from the penalty spot. The goalkeeper guessed the side but couldn’t reach the ball.

Ghana defeats Nigeria with 2 – 1 in the first quarter-final of the CAN 2008. It was a dramatic game and Nigeria proved themselves a hard nut to crack. The Super Eagles opened the score from a penalty kick in the 35th minute, a questionable penalty kick from my point of view.
Michael Essien equalized for Ghana just before halftime with a superb header. The winning goal for the host team came very late in the 83rd minute. Agogo is the hero, as he managed to kick the ball into the net from close range.
