Dida banned two games after Celtic theatrical act – Dida’s history
The Brazilian goalkeeper had also other similar events. When I say similar I mean that he had other events with opponent supporters. He was hit by a flare thrown by an Inter supporter in April 2005. This event caused major punishments for Inter and Dida had indeed reasons to colapse on the pitch. Check the video of the event below.
Dida banned two games after Celtic theatrical act – My opinion
In my opinion the decision for Milan is fair enough as Dida overreacted. He was punished by Uefa for violating the ‘principles of loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship’ . The punishment for Celtic seems to mild for me. They could have easily get a ground closure for what the supporters did. The Celtic fans entered the pitch after the winning goal was scored and one of them approached Dida. I find this unacceptable and only a fine seems a to easy punishment compared to what Uefa decided in the case of other teams.
