This is how Stuttgart’s players and fans celebrated after their 5th Bundesliga title in the clubs history. The joy was greater as VFB came from 0-1 behind with Energie Cottbus. The final part of the season saw in Schalke04 as 1st favourites for winning the german title crown, but as a few years ago they didn’t face the pressure and lost the trophy on the final moments of the season. 3rd finished Werder Bremen and 4th was Bayern Munchen. With VFB Stuttgart finsihing 1st and Schalke04 2nd, Germany has the two teams that will play in the group phase of the UCL competition. Werder Bremen can join them if they qualify from the 3rd preliminary round games. This is highly possible because Bremen will be considered favourites at the draw.
Bayern Munchen setback
Bayern Munchen had a bad 2007 season. They finished only 4th in the Bundesliga, position wich keeps them out of the next Uefa Champions League season. This is a major setback for the club both from the economic point of view and also for the clubs prestige. We can still view a positive side from this bad performance. Not playing in the UCL could be also something good, because Bayern will save some great amount of energy and could concentrate more on the 2008 Bundesliga trophy. I guess that we have to wait and see.
